Temporary Hot Water & Steam Heat
USING HOT WATER AND STEAM FOR HEAT
When a facility needs heat on a temporary basis, one challenge is to define the energy source (fuel):
-
Does the site have adequate electricity to run electric heaters?
- Is natural gas available?
- Are emissions an issue?
- How fast does the deployment have to be done?
- Are there Union expenses associated with one form of heat vs. another?
- Is hot water or steam available on the site?
Cedar Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Nassau County, Long Island, NY

Cedar Creek operates a central heating plant serving over 50 buildings on site, including the newest one, which required temporary heat.
The contractor can not use the buildings permanent new air handlers and duct work for fear of contamination, yet heat is still required. Hot water is available since the new building has access to the central heating plant hot water.
Using On Site Energy® 20 ton air handlers, tapping into the buildings supply of 190 degree water, heat is provided to the space.
The cost of using On Site Energy® air handlers is a tiny fraction compared to using electric or gas fired heating equipment.
Other examples of our air handlers being used for heat include:
